About ShortSpan.ai
ShortSpan.ai is an independent AI security news and analysis site. It tracks the latest research from arXiv and other sources, distilling academic papers into concise, accessible articles for security practitioners, researchers, and anyone interested in the evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
New papers are collected and scored for relevance daily, then distilled into news-style articles that are editorially reviewed before publication. Every article links back to its original source so readers can dive deeper into the underlying research.
About the Author
ShortSpan.ai is owned and run by Ben Williams as a personal research project. Ben is an offensive security professional with over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity. He currently works at NCC Group, where his day-to-day focus is on the security challenges introduced by artificial intelligence.
In his full-time role, Ben performs security assessments of AI systems, AI threat modelling, and AI red teaming — testing how AI-powered products and services hold up against real-world adversarial techniques. He also continues to carry out more traditional penetration testing and security assessments across a range of technologies and industries.
ShortSpan.ai grew out of Ben's interest in keeping pace with the rapid stream of AI security research being published every week. Rather than let that reading stay private, the site makes it available to a wider audience — with the aim of helping the security community stay informed without having to trawl through dozens of papers a day.

How the Site Works
New AI security research papers are collected and scored for relevance daily. Selected papers are summarised and turned into concise, news-style articles, each with a unique AI-generated illustration. Every article is editorially reviewed before publication and links back to its original source.
ShortSpan.ai does not claim original authorship of the underlying research; it exists to make that research more accessible to the security community.
